The Var in Spring

The Provence-Var-Toulon-Hyères Gazette gives you the most comprehensive all year round guide to the Var, one of the most special departments of Provence-Alpes-Côte-d'Azur, with its fine vineyards, medieval villages, mountains and gorges, all worth visiting in the mild days of winter or early spring with the smell of mimosa in the air.

The best way to arrive in the Var is to fly into the Toulon-Hyères International Airport just 50 kms west of St Tropez.

This Var Gazette will provide you with a description of 15 towns and villages and links to Hotels, Restaurants, Property Sales, Villa Rental, Yacht Rental, Car Hire, Flight information, Regional wine and food, as well as special places of interest.

Springtime is the perfect for exploring the countryside. Small towns return to a more leisurely pace with weekly markets and special events such as the flower festivals. Don't forget to register for the Ricard competition to win a holiday in the Var!

Celebrate the Mimosa

Attention, all lovers of beautiful plants: the Corso de Bormes has become "the" unmissable winter festival on the Côte d'Azur. Allow yourself to be intoxicated by the bewitching aroma of the mimosa and the magical procession of around fifteen flower-decked floats, rounded off by the traditional "bataille de fleurs" (flower parade).

Viva Mimosa

Numerous events centred around the theme of the mimosa: large procession of floral floats, exhibitions and sales of mimosa-based products, presentation of the mimosa road, walks in the mimosa forest in the Estrel Massif, coach trips in the Tanneron Massif and visits to see the forcing of the mimosa bloom, Miss Mimosa competition and musical entertainment.
